ViVOtech announces ViVOpay 5000 Contactless Payment Reader for Use with new MasterCard® PayPass™ programs in EMEA, Latin America, and Canada

Contactless Payment Leader’s ViVOpay 5000 Expands Global Certification for MasterCard PayPass Contactless Programs; Debuts at London Contactless Launch in the UK

SANTA CLARA, California, Oct 22, 2007 – ViVOtech, the leader in Near Field Communication (NFC) and contactless payment systems, today announced that its ViVOpay 5000 is now available to participants in new MasterCard® PayPass™ contactless programs throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Latin America and Canada. The ViVOpay 5000 reader received the MasterCard PayPass-M/Chip Offline Only, -M/Chip Online Capable and Mag Stripe certifications. This certification expands the previous global certifications for PayPass MagStripe program in the United States and the OneSmart® MasterCard PayPass and Pre-Authorized programs in EMV countries guaranteeing the ViVOpay 5000 can be used globally to support MasterCard PayPass initiatives worldwide. Additionally, this certification enables ViVOpay 5000 to be used in London for the national rollout of PayPass.

ViVOtech has shipped over 320,000 ViVOpay readers to a wide variety of merchants in 27 countries all over the world. The ViVOpay 5000 has proved to be the company’s best selling product in countries where EMV smart cards are currently being adopted in record numbers. As part of the certification process to support MasterCard PayPass standards for contactless payments, ViVOtech submitted the ViVOpay 5000 to an independent laboratory to undergo extensive testing to demonstrate software stability, card data security and interoperability. MasterCard’s approval represents an industry-recognized level of performance and quality that demonstrates an extra layer of confidence for banks and retailers in their decision to partner with ViVOtech.
