NFC Phone Giveaway Press Release

MasterCard and ViVOtech Team Up To Sponsor NFC-Enabled Mobile Phone Giveaway at Near Field Communications Technology Summit

First-of-Its-Kind Promotion Lets Users Experience NFC Technology in Actual Retail Environment

Las Vegas, Nevada, April 4, 2006 - ViVOtech, the leading supplier of contactless payment solutions, today announced that it has teamed up with MasterCard International to sponsor a giveaway of Near Field communication (NFC)-enabled mobile phones. The promotion will take place during the NFC Technology Summit which is happening today in conjunction with the CTIA Wireless 2006 conference.

The NFC-enabled Nokia 3220 mobile phones will be distributed today to selected attendees, allowing them to see how simple and convenient NFC technology is for making payments. Each phone has been pre-loaded with a $25.00 MasterCard Prepaid account, from People’s Bank of Paris, Texas and can be used at a variety of contactless-enabled retail stores in Las Vegas or anywhere else where MasterCard® PayPass™ contactless payment technology is accepted. Users simply select the MasterCard logo on the phone’s display and tap the phone on a special PayPass-enabled reader to complete the transaction. It’s that simple.

For the giveaway, ViVOtech provided ViVOwallet 2.0 payment and Service Discovery application software. This software is part of the ViVOnfc Software Suite and can support multiple cards from different payment brands thru an easy to use graphical user interface.

“MasterCard anticipates that Near Field Communication technology will benefit handset manufacturers, service providers and consumers alike,” said Richard Fletcher, Group Head, Mobile/Wireless Center of Excellence, MasterCard International. “Our continued support of NFC technology will help create convenient and secure new payment options for consumers, ultimately changing the transaction experience as we know it.”

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with MasterCard for this promotion,” said Michael Mullagh, CEO for ViVOtech. “We believe that NFC will transform the way consumers pay for a variety of retail services, and obtain localized content. ViVOtech is proud to be on the forefront of this exciting technology.”
