ViVOtech Adds Six Engineering, Sales and Marketing VPs
NFC Software and Systems Pioneer Expands Senior Talent Ranks
as Global Market for Rich Mobile Commerce Solutions Rapidly Approaches Tipping Point
Santa Clara, California – February 22, 2011 – ViVOtech, the leader in Near Field Communication (NFC) software and systems, today announced the hiring of six senior Silicon Valley and European technology executives. The six vice presidents collectively bring a wealth of leadership experience in engineering, sales, and product management and marketing with companies including Apple, @Road, Baan, Hypercom, Ingenico, Macromedia, Nortel, NCR, Tata, and VeriFone.

Lance Nakamura, Vice President of Systems Engineering and Development
Nakamura brings a 26-year career in the payments industry to ViVOtech, where he will lead the development of NFC point of sale (POS) systems. Nakamura spent 22 years at VeriFone with leadership roles as Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Vice President of Systems Products Development and Chief Architect. Nakamura left VeriFone in 2006 to work for two companies that were subsequently acquired by VeriFone: WAY Systems, where he was Chief Technology Officer responsible for (POS) and gateway solutions, and Semtek, where he was Vice President of Product Development responsible for end-to-end encryption technology. Nakamura has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii.
Co-incident with this appointment Scott Orr assumes the position of VP Manufacturing and Field Operations.
Dickey Singh, Vice President of Software Engineering and Development
Singh brings 21 years of extensive software industry experience in enterprise, mobile and software-as-a-service development to ViVOtech, where he will lead the development of mobile software platforms. Before joining ViVOtech, Singh held executive engineering roles at Replay Solutions, MarketTools, CustomerSat, and Spear Technologies. He also held management and research and development positions with @Road Baan Research, Nortel Networks, SPSS Inc. and Tata Consultancy Services. Singh graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from MIT, University of Pune.
Dave Kleinberg, Vice President of Software Product Management and Marketing
Kleinberg is responsible for developing and executing innovative products, go-to-market strategies, and plans for ViVOtech’s mobile software platforms. He brings 25 years of experience in software product management, marketing and sales as Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Marketing at NetObjects; and as Director of Product Management, and International and U.S. Channel Sales at Macromedia. Prior to Macromedia, Kleinberg served as Product Manager, Product Development Manager, and National Accounts Manager at Apple. Most recently he served as Chief Executive Officer for software start-ups Opelin and General Interface, which were acquired by HP and TIBCO respectively. Kleinberg has an MBA from Stanford, was a Fulbright Scholar in Economics, and graduated from Georgetown University.
Stuart Taylor, Vice President of Systems Product Management and Marketing
Taylor, with 25 years of technology experience – including 15 in POS marketing and product management – will be responsible for developing and executing innovative products, go-to-market strategies and plans for ViVOtech’s reader platforms. Taylor joins ViVOtech from Hypercom, where he served as Vice President of Global Solutions and Marketing after eight years at VeriFone as Vice President and General Manager, Global Marketing; Director of Emerging Markets and Business Development; and Director of Product Management and Marketing. Prior to VeriFone he held a variety of management and technical positions in the U.S. and Australia for Intellect, Storage Technology and NCR. Taylor has an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and a Diploma in Electronic Engineering.
Bob Cook, Vice President of Sales, Financial Markets
Cook is responsible for leading ViVOtech’s sales in the U.S. and Canadian financial markets. He brings 25 years of technology experience, including 16 years in senior POS sales and general management roles at VeriFone, where he built the TASQ channel and had profit-and-loss responsibility as Vice President, General Manager, and as a corporate officer. In those positions Cook was responsible for multi-lane retail, government health care, and VeriFone support services. He was also Director and General Manager of Industry Processors, Director and General Manager of the Integrated Systems Division, Director and General Manager of Channel Sales, and Western Regional Manager. Cook has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from San Jose State University.
Steve Hine, Vice President of Sales, EMEA
Hine, who joins ViVOtech from Wincor Nixdorf in the U.K. where he served as Head of Service Sales, is responsible for leading ViVOtech’s sales strategies and team, and for growing channels, share and revenues in the EMEA market. Hine has more than 20 years of experience in sales in the U.K. and European payment and financial services markets. Prior to Wincor he was Sales and Marketing Director at Ingenico and spent 10 years at ACI Worldwide in a variety of roles including Vice President of Sales, EMEA; Regional Manager for Northern Europe & Middle East; Regional Manager for Western Europe; Major Accounts Sales Manager in the U.K.; and Sales Manager in the Benelux countries and Italy. Hine has an Honors degree, 1st Class, in Computer Science from the Staffordshire University.
