Chantland, Former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Williams Sonoma
and Mervyn's, joins ViVOtech's board of advisors

Industry Veteran will provide guidance in retail strategies, market

Altos, CA, Jan 8, 2002 --- ViVOtech Inc., a leader in mobile electronic
payment systems, today announced that Dennis Chantland, the former
Chief Administrative Officer, Williams Sonoma Corporation (NYSE:
WSM), and Mervyn's, a division of target Corporation (NYSE:TGT),
has joined its board of advisors.

Mr.
Chantland brings over 30 years of senior experience in operations,
distribution, retail and e-commerce to ViVOtech. Until 1999 Dennis
served as Executive Vice-President and Chief Administrative Officer
at Williams Sonoma (NYSE:WSM). During his tenure at Williams-Sonoma,
Dennis had a pivotal role in creating and launching the specialty
retailer's first major e-commerce initiative (www.williams-sonoma.com).

Before
his tenure at Williams Sonoma, for seventeen years Dennis held several
senior executive positions at Target Corporation, America's fourth
largest general merchandise retailer with operating brand names
as Mervyn's, Marshal Fields and Target. Dennis has an MBA in Finance
and has served on several boards, including the Arthritis Foundation
of Boston and San Francisco and the Skagg's Retail Institute at
Brigham Young University.
