Names Michael Mullagh as New CEO
Jorge
Fernandes, Co-Founder to become Chairman of the Board.
SANTA
CLARA, Calif. January 25, 2005 – ViVOtech, a leader in lifestyle
payment transactions, today announced the appointment of Michael
(Mick) Mullagh to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO),
and as a member to the Board of Directors. Mullagh has served as
President and CEO of early and growth stage start-ups, Telephia
and Whisper Communications, and as President and COO of two large
Canadian wireless carriers. While at Telephia, Mullagh led the company
through three years of extremely rapid growth in revenues and margins.
Previously he helped drive Rogers Wireless (then known as Cantel,
AT&T) to become Canada's largest wireless service provider.
He joined Rogers from BC Tel Mobility (now known as Telus Mobility)
which he led to become North America's first profitable wireless
carrier.
ViVOtech
is the leader in the rapidly emerging market for contactless payments
and is poised for major growth in 2005 and beyond. Mullagh’s
proven leadership experience in early, growth stage company building,
large company management, and operations, make him an ideal candidate
for the position of ViVOtech’s CEO.
Mullagh
replaces ViVOtech co-founder Jorge Fernandes, as CEO. Fernandes,
who co-founded ViVOtech in 2001 and brought it to its successful
market position today, becomes Chairman of the Board. Fernandes
will continue to make a strong contribution to the company’s
success.

Mullagh,
who was born in Oxford, England, received a Bachelor of Arts Honors
Degree in Economics from Trinity College Dublin, and a Masters Degree
in Economics at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.
