Leader
in Airport Retailing The Paradies Shops Picks ViVOtech Contactless
Payment Technologies For All US and Canadian Locations
Makes speedy and convenient payments available to over half-billion
travelers annually
SANTA
CLARA, Calif. January 14, 2008 — ViVOtech, the leader
in Near Field Communication (NFC) and contactless payment systems,
today announced that The Paradies Shops, the nation's leading airport
concessionaire has selected ViVOtech contactless payment terminals
for their over 500 retail stores in over 60 airports and hotels
across the U.S. and Canada. Using ViVOtech technology, The Paradies
Shops will be able to offer the more than half-billion travelers
it serves each year quicker payment options and greater convenience
in their travel shopping experience. The new ViVOtech units accept
both traditional payments such as magnetic stripe transactions and
new contactless and NFC mobile phone payments.
"The
Paradies Shops was looking for a customer-facing solution that would
enable us to support new contactless payment programs as well as
the latest emerging technologies like NFC mobile payments. However,
we also had to support traditional magnetic stripe payments that
are in use by most consumers," said Lou Bottino, Senior Vice
President and Chief Operating Officer, The Paradies Shops. "ViVOtech
was not only very responsive to our needs, but delivered a single
solution that accepts multiple payment options that fit our needs
with minimal impact on our existing POS equipment. We look forward
to offering this service to the traveling public later this year.”
The
Paradies Shops will accept contactless cards and fobs, in addition
to traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards, at all of the check-out
counters of its specialized, one-of-a-kind stores and nationally-recognized
retail brands. The Paradies Shops’ family of brands includes
a wide variety of store concepts from newsstands to specialty gift
shops, to exclusive brands as Brooks Brothers, PGA TOUR Shops, CNBC,
Brighton Collectibles, and The New York Times bookstores.
"We
are very excited to have been selected by Paradies shops to provide
their retail stores with the ability to take contactless payments"
said Mohammad Khan, President and Founder, ViVOtech. "This
further strengthens our commitment to retailers and their consumers
to improve the check out experience. The Paradies’ customer
-- the traveler on the go -- will greatly benefit from the choice,
speed and convenience that contactless payments have to offer."
ViVOtech
will be showcasing its contactless and mobile phone payment solutions
at the National Retail Federation (NRF) annual convention, January
13-16 in New York City at booth# 306.
