ViVOtech Unveils Industry’s First Contactless Reader with Flexible and Easy to Mount Design, Allowing Seamless Upgrade in a Wide Variety of POS Environments

ViVOtech Extends End-to-End Contactless Payment Family of Products with Highly Integrated Solution that Enables Wireless Payments, Pre-paid/Giftcards, and Loyalty Programs

SANTA CLARA, Calif., October 18, 2004 – ViVOtech®, a leader in lifestyle payment transactions, today announced the ViVOpay 4000™, a next-generation single or multi-lane contactless payment solution. ViVOpay 4000 is designed to accept contactless payments such as MasterCard® PayPass™, ExpressPay™ from American Express®, and Visa® Contactless. Measuring just 5 inches (unfolded), or 2.5 inches (folded) with a width of 4.2 inches, the ViVOpay 4000 makes it possible for retailers to seamlessly upgrade their systems by simply mounting the new device to any POS (point of sale) terminal. As a result, retailers obtain the benefits of a single physical point of interaction environment for consumers – providing speed and convenience for a rapid checkout – without cluttering their counter space.

The ViVOpay 4000 is designed to provide easy, convenient, and safe transaction in limited space counter environments such as movie theatres, ticket booths, quick service restaurants (QSR), car rental facilities, retail outlets and hospitality areas. It accepts payments in a wide variety of form factors or technologies such as key fobs, smart mobile phones, infrared devices or RF enabled payment cards. In addition, the ViVOpay 4000 has incorporated the benefits of both RFID and Near Field Communications (NFC) technologies providing the market with industry’s most versatile contactless system on the market today. The ViVOpay 4000 is an easy to mount reader for any POS systems and compliments to ViVOpay 3000™ that has been very successful as a countertop contactless reader and has already been deployed at thousands of POS locations in North America.

Based upon patent pending design, the ViVOpay 4000 raises the bar with contactless readers. By accepting RF enabled credit cards or key fobs, retailers will be able to generate 20 percent larger ticket revenue and a 25 percent increase usage in payments versus cash.

About the ViVOpay 4000

The ViVOpay 4000 is compatible with the industry’s most popular interfaces including: ISO 14443 Type A/B, Infrared, Mifare and Ultralight Mifare, and is designed to support MasterCard® PayPass™, American Express® ExpressPay, and Visa Contactless. The device provides a robust operating temperature range from 0 to 40c (32 to 104 F) and is able to withstand a humidity range from 20to 90 percent- non-condensing.
