WHITEPAPER - "RF-BASED CONTACTLESS PAYMENT: A MORE CONVENIENT WAY
TO PAY"
Detailed
Explanation of Emerging Payment Technology Offered by ViVOtech™
- Available at Card Tech Secure Tech Conference or at www.ViVOtech.com
Santa
Clara, Calif. (May 6, 2003) - As all of the major card associations
launch contactless payment initiatives, Radio-Frequency (RF)-based
contactless payment systems have quickly become the latest trend
in the payment industry. With the positive results achieved in early
implementations, market momentum is building and widespread deployments
are commencing in many geographic markets. ViVOtech™, a provider
of contactless payment solutions for existing and new point-of-sale
(POS) systems, has published a white paper that provides a comprehensive
description and explanation of this breakthrough contactless technology.
RF-based
contactless payment devices (cards or key fobs) allow consumers
to quickly and easily pay for transactions "with a wave." In early
implementations, consumers liked the RF-based contactless payment
devices because of its ease of use, increased speed and control
of transactions.
"Consumers
feel very comfortable paying with RF devices instead of cash because
it is faster and more convenient," said Mohammad Khan, president
and COO of ViVOtech. "As a result, retailers are seeing increased
revenues, as consumers spend more per transaction and transact more
frequently."
ViVOtech's
white paper provides a comprehensive description of RF-based contactless
payment, including:
-
How RF-based contactless payment systems work.
-
What
retail applications can be implemented as RF-based contactless
transactions.
-
What benefits retailers will see from implementing an RF-based
contactless system.
-
Why
it's easy and fast to enable existing retailers to start accepting
contactless payment cards.
- What
opportunities are emerging for acquirers and ISOs to take advantage
of this new technology.
- What
technologies have been used for RF-based contactless payment
The new RF-based contactless solution -- and ViVOtech technology
-- is already being implemented. In late 2002, ViVOtech commenced
a partnership with MasterCard International to deploy ViVOpay™ terminals
for an Orlando, Florida-based trial of MasterCard PayPass™, a new
contactless payment program that provides consumers with a simpler
way to pay. ViVOtech is enabling several merchants in the trial,
including gas stations, convenience stores and fast food restaurants,
with proximity technology.
ViVOtech
provides a unique contactless payment solution, lowering the risk
to the retailer and acquirer by leveraging the existing installed
payment infrastructure and allowing implementations to start with
a small investment. The ViVOpay™ contactless payment terminal can
be quickly and easily installed, enabling retailers to accept RF-based
contactless credit cards in minutes and providing acquirers and
ISOs with an enhanced payment solution for their customers.
ViVOtech's
white paper will be available at ViVOtech's booth # 1306 at the
Card Tech Secure Tech Conference (CTST) Conference, in Orlando,
Florida, May 12-15, where ViVOtech's contactless payment solutions
will be demonstrated. The white paper is also available for a free
download on the ViVOtech's web site at www.vivotech.com/white_paper.
